Gui Boratto - Beautiful Life

So I guess Albert is done with class. There’s no way he’d be listening to such brash and inappropriate music otherwise. I hate you, Albert. With a trillion finals looming over my head, I continue to listen to only brain-soothing tunes (with the exception of the new Don Diablo/Example joint that’s been released … that shit is on fire. Definitely cop that below) that make me do either one of two things: study or sleep. I HATE YOU ALBERT.

Consequently, I’ve been listening to a lot of Gui Boratto. Inspired by his chill out session at Coachella this year, I gave a chance at his albums and they’re pretty awesome. He may dangerously tweeter on the fine line between trance and ambiance, but his sound is sure as hell addictive and accessible to both casual and hardcore electronica users alike.

Gui’s debut album’s title, Chromophobia (2007), is a misnomer at best. His tracks often induce synesthetic experiences of pictures with incredible vividness and color. One moment you’ll be staring at the stars in an open field of grass, and the next you’ll be seeing yourself racing down Skyline Boulevard with top down and the cool night breeze sweeping across your face. A slight exaggeration, maybe, but don’t be surprised if you zone out from the shoegaze vocals and rhythmic nuances that permeate throughout the album. His follow up album, Take My Breath Away (2009), features nothing new, but aptly calls upon the idiom: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Gui Boratto’s musical formula works. he has total control of his music and people freakin’ listen.

“That’s it; techno’s in and indie rock is officially dead.”

No Turning Back and Beautiful Life are the Gui Boratto versions of Télépopmusik’s Breathe for me, and I love it.
