Rilo Kiley - Does he Love You? (Acoustic)

Woody Allen’s most recent release (2008), Vicky Cristina Barcelona somehow managed to sneak its way into my schedule, despite the surfeit of studying that needs to be done this weekend. The movie attempts to dissect and analyze the fickleness of the human psyche in regards to love, but also sheds light on mankind’s reluctance to change in pursuit of it. It’s light-hearted and even satirically comical at times, and it’s beautifully shot. It helps that the cast is really easy on the eyes, too. (Penélope Cruz is gorgeous in the movie, and it’s good to see Javier Bardem in a movie where he’s not a sociopathic, serial murderer.) Woody Allen is not washed up!
The relationship between Bardem and Cruz’s characters reminded me of Rilo Kiley’s Portions for Foxes, which conveniently leads me to my segue: I picked up Rilo Kiley’s 2004 EP release, Live at Fingerprints. It’s a six track EP that features acoustic versions of tracks from More Adventurous, Execution Of All Things, and Take Offs and Landings. Among the six is an incredibly well done version of Does He Love You?, coincidentally the first song of Rilo Kiley’s that I’ve ever heard. I guess nostalgia just so happens to be the flavor of the week. There’s just something about Jenny Lewis’ voice that’s so freaking intoxicating. aiowjdoiawjdioawd. Ok, I’m done.

P.S. True story: For an undisclosed period of time, I initially thought Rilo Kiley was Jenny Lewis’ real name. Shows how hip I am, right? Riiiight. Shrug*; I’m a work in progress.
