Phoenix is slated to release its next highly anticipated album on the 25th of May. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the title of the LP, and I’ve been desperately trying to hold off from listening to the lo-fi leak that’s been floating around for the past couple of weeks on the interweb. Honestly, I listened to remix after remix of 1901, hoping my ears would be satiated, but to no avail. On April 28, 2009, Lloyd Lee had an ‘epic fail’ moment and succumbed to the desires of “MOAR PHOENIX.” 3 hours and 4 listen-throughs later, I only have one thing to say: I am going to buy the shit out of this album.

If you’ve listened to Phoenix before, this album continues to feature what is now the French band’s classic “soul/rock/electronica fusion sound” Elegant guitar riffs perfectly complement Thomas Mars’ smooth vocals and the occasional ambient synth. If you’re not familiar with Phoenix, this is a band you can study, sleep, chill, eat, ________ (insert verb) to at all hours of the day. I still remember the day when my friend introduced Phoenix to me with If I Ever Feel Better, and I had what I now recollect as the “WTF Phoenix is the greatest band ever” moment.

Phoenix has agreed to do a CANADA/U.S. summer tour, so go find a date (both person and time, I guess) that fits your schedule and watch the SHIT out of them:
